On Wednesday, 11th November 2020, under the umbrella of the Community of Users for Secure, Safe and Resilient Societies (CoU), DG HOME’s unit dealing with innovation and industry for security organised a virtual workshop on innovative counter-UAS solutions and strategies.

On November 17th, 2020, as a member of DroneWISE consortium, RiniGARD have had the honour to participate in the SATIE Awareness Event which took place online via Google meetings. The event was focused on SATIE project H2020 which is based around security of air transport infrastructure of Europe.

Drones are already in policing toolkit, but introduction of new 5G networks will enhance their lawenforcement use & pose a greater criminal threat.

Tackling contemporary terrorism requires a proactive stance, as an increasing number of threats have emerged from the use of commercially available drones.

Project DroneWISE was presented on 4th September 2020 on Zagreb Police College Research Days which were held on Police Academy in Zagreb.

We are pleased to report that other security consortia recognize us as an exceptional added value and that the results of the DroneWISE project will be used in the PRAETORIAN project if it is successfully evaluated by the European Commission. In this way, DroneWISE, together with other involved projects, would contribute to greater security in the event of possible cascading attacks on critical infrastructure.

Dr Holger Nitsch, coordinator of the new European Commission DroneWISE innovation project, explains exclusively to Policing Insight the threat from the terrorist use of drones, and the measures being developed across Europe to support the emergency services’ response to a potential terrorist drone attack.
